Learn how to garden smarter rather than garden harder through Richardson Bay
Audubon Center’s interactive Audubon at Home Spring Series Saturday workshops.
Everyday gardeners will become weekend conservationists by learning habitat
restoration skills specially designed for the backyard. Got an itch to pull invasive
plants, but don’t know how to identify them? Heard the buzz about encouraging bees
and butterflies to your garden? We have a workshop for you!
Our Spring Series is designed to teach you how to transform and maintain a California native plant garden which will decrease your monthly water bills and increase your backyard beauty through a healthy ecosystem of wild flowers and wildlife. Don’t leave conservation to the professionals, come join in the fun!
Advance Registration Required. Workshops participant fee is $7/per person (Worm Bin Workshop $40/family and includes worm bin starter kit, informational packet, and worms). Restoration Work Days are free to the public.

- Introduction to Native Plants
Saturday March 3rd, 2012 10am -12pm - Our Audubon at Home Series will introduce you to land restoration and how it applies to your backyard. Come explore our Sanctuary and learn about native plants, native seed collection, and how to maintain a native garden at home. Topics will include plant identification, clearing techniques, and information on the impact of invasive plants on wildlife.

- Worm Bin Workshop
Saturday, April 14th, 2012 10am-12pm - Learn how to make a worm bin for your home or classroom! Worm bins keep food
waste out of landfills and produce wonderful soil for your garden. We’ll also explore
other methods of composting, such as tumblers and yard waste bins.
Cost: $40 per bin (includes bin, info packet, & starter worms). - Water Wise Gardener
Saturday, May 5th, 2012 10am-12pm - Water is a precious resource here in California. This series will focus on methods
to reduce your garden’s need for water through the use of native, drought tolerant
plants, purchasing water saving garden devices, and designing garden topography.
With these ideas we can help you save money at home and save California's water resources.

- Stop by our Center and check out our new Audubon at Home Exploration Backpacks. Exploration Backpacks contain field guides and activity sheets so you and your family can explore our Center at your own pace while learning about native and non-native plants, local wildlife, and simple changes you can make in your own backyards to help native plants and animals. Included are tips about common invasive plants in your yard, a water-wise gardening tip sheet, and a directory of local resources. Exploration Backpacks are free to use while at our Center.
